Position Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement processes, supplier management, and strategic initiatives to ensure optimal quality, cost, and delivery of materials and services. This role involves leadership, operational buying, continuous improvement, and alignment with company goals to drive operational excellence.
This position is onsite at the New Richmond, WI facility.
Essential Functions:
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Set clear goals, objectives, and tasks for the team and individual members.
- Foster an open and innovative work environment to encourage creativity and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and retain qualified personnel, managing performance and compensation effectively
- Performance Management:
- Develop and measure team performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices.
- Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain Management:
- Define and implement supply chain strategies for products, materials, and services.
- Lead critical negotiations for high-impact materials, focusing on pricing and financial terms.
- Ensure implementation of global pricing agreements established by corporate procurement teams.
- Oversee supplier development, onboarding new suppliers, and phasing out non-performing ones.
- Define and implement outsourcing and insourcing strategies for material fields turning, milling, sheet metal to achieve yearly material cost savings, on time delivery and quality targets.
- Compliance and Budget Management:
- Maintain compliance with company policies, quality standards, and industry safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor departmental budgets and business plans.
- Supplier Performance and Risk Management:
- Address critical delivery or quality issues with immediate countermeasures.
- Monitor supplier performance in quality, cost, and delivery, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage claim negotiations in cases of supplier quality or delivery disputes.
- Operational Excellence and Reporting:
- Process operational POs for OEM, turning and milling parts.
- Deliver accurate and timely material management reports.
- Approve purchase orders, requisitions, travel, and other expenses per company regulations.
- Provide modern IT solutions and tools to streamline procurement processes and reduce workload.
- Collaboration and Cost Reduction:
- Partner with engineering teams during new product development to drive early-stage sourcing and cost reduction initiatives.
- Lead negotiations and activities aimed at reducing product procurement costs (PPC).
- Contract and Relationship Management:
- Establish and manage contracts for all relevant business interactions.
- Represent the company in national and international business meetings.
- Other Duties:
- Support purchasing data analysis to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages operational and strategic equipment buyers. Recruiting, on-boarding and retaining of properly qualified personnel, training, and performance management, along with compensation decisions.
